For many students, Spring Break is a welcome reprieve from homework and classes before the busy end of the year season of finals, banquets, and AP exams. Although some may be traveling throughout the break, others will be happy to hear that Houston has a wide range of activities as well.   



French Cultures Festival

Time: 6 pm-10 pm

Venue: Discovery Green

Price: FREE

Celebrate the start of Spring Break at the French Cultures Festival Kick off at Discovery Green. Hosted by the Cultural Service of the French Embassy, the festival aims to celebrate French culture through educational events, food, and live music.



46th Annual Buffalo Bayou Regatta

Time: 7 am-2 pm

Venue: Buffalo Bayou

Price: FREE to spectate, $55 for race entry

Cheer on racers at the largest canoe and kayak race in Texas! Paddlers will compete along the scenic Buffalo Bayou in an exhausting 15-mile race.


Lone Star Flight Museum

Time: 9 am-5 pm

Price: $16-20

Available until March 17th

Fly high at the Lone Star Flight Museum’s Spring Break spectacular! Enjoy an array of special activities, including meeting the pilot, flying drones, flight simulators, and much more.


Young Writers Workshop

Time: 10:30 am-11:30 am

Venue: Discovery Green

Price: FREE, limited to 25 students at a first come first serve basis.

Challenge your mind during the holiday at the Young Writers workshop, hosted by Houston Public Libraries! Learn how to express thoughts and develop language skills through games and educational events.



The Rink: Rolling at Discovery Green

Time: 11 am-11 pm

Venue: Discovery Green

Price: $8 ticket with $4 skate rental

Take a spin at Houston’s first outdoor roller rink. The rink is open almost all day, and hosts fun events and programming including 80’s and 90’s themed nights.


Spring (Break) into Asia

Time: 12 pm-3 pm

Venue: Asia Society Texas Center

Price: FREE with RSVP

Hosted by the Asia Society, the Spring (Break) into Asia festival promotes education and appreciation of Asian culture through themed days and events.

Mon: India and Holi

Tues: Japan and Hanami (Cherry Blossom Viewing)

Wed: China and the Qingming Festival

Thurs: Iran and Nowruz (the Persian New Year)

Fri: Thailand and Songkran (the Thai New Year)


Spring Break at Rienzi

Time: 10 am-12 pm

Venue: Rienzi Gardens and Museum

Price: FREE

Enjoy a collection of lush green spaces and architectural spaces at the Rienzi Museum. During Spring Break, the museum will be hosting an array of family friendly activities including sketching, storytime, and gallery talks.


Blessington Farms Spring Break Spectacular

Time: 10 am-5 pm

Venue: Blessington Farms

Price: $20 admission with berries priced per pound

Pick fresh strawberries and blueberries at the local Blessington Farms! The venue also hosts many themed activities, including hayrides, mazes, and much more.


Rockets vs. Spurs

Time: 7 pm

Venue: Toyota Center Houston

Price: tickets starting at $60

Cheer on the home team against the San Antonio Spurs.



Zoo Members Enter Early

Time: 8 am (non-members enter at 9 am) – 6 pm

Venue: Houston Zoo

Price: Tickets starting at $15

Enjoy a peaceful day among the animals at the Houston Zoo an hour before the crowds.



Houston Rodeo Value Wednesday

Time: 8 am-8 pm

Venue: NRG Stadium

Price: only on Value Wednesday tickets start at $5 with $2 for rides

Show your patriotic spirit by visiting this weekly tribute by local military community groups featuring a color guard and live renditions of American classics.



Buffalo Bayou Volunteer Work Day

Time: 10 am-1 pm

Venue: Buffalo Bayou

Price: FREE

Give back to the community by helping the tree planting effort at Buffalo Bayou leading to a healthier and more aesthetically pleasing environment for the city. To participate, contact the volunteer coordinator from the Buffalo Bayou website.



Bayou Bend Family Day

Time: 1 pm-5 pm

Venue: Buffalo Bayou

Price: FREE

Enjoy themed entertainment of “Remember the Ladies: Women in America” Day at Buffalo Bayou. Activities, demonstrations, and performances will be taking place throughout the gardens and the historic mansion near the bayou. Enjoy tours of the house, hosted by volunteers from Houston Junior Woman’s Club.
